Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana among top 10 states with most drug overdose deaths

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana are getting hit harder by the opioid epidemic than over 80 percent of the country.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provided a ranking of the states with the most deaths from drug overdoses.

It’s based on the most recent statistics, which were recorded in 2021, and the rate is the number of deaths per 100,000 people.

Kentucky ranked fourth on the list with a rate of 55.6, and Ohio (48.1) and Indiana (43) were not far behind at seventh and tenth place.
