Louisville Recovery Community Connection is a non-profit recovery community organization that helps people initiate and/or sustain recovery. We are partnering with Voices of Hope (Lexington) to sponsor a campaign to distribute NaloxBoxes to businesses in Louisville, Lexington, and surrounding communities. Funding made possible by the Kentucky Opioid Response Effort (KORE). The LRCC will also be partnering with Louisville Metro Public Health Department in the coming weeks to distribute more NaloxBoxes throughout Louisville metro area. LMPHD will also continue to supply Naloxone (Narcan) for these projects.
Director Jeremy Byard stated, “We are taking part in this initiative to distribute NaloxBoxes to area businesses because we know the opioid epidemic is a public health crisis. Kentucky is one of the hardest hit states in our country. We are dedicated to educating the community, dispelling stigma, and ultimately saving lives.”
According to Amanda Fallin-Bennett, PhD, RN, Program Director (VOH): “For a business, having a NaloxBox is similar in concept to having an AED on the wall. It’s a heavy-duty box mounted to the wall that contains doses of naloxone. These boxes provide the tools necessary to empower community members to respond to an opioid overdose.”
NaloxBoxes were ordered for the following partner organizations:
Big Blue Vapor Shop, Nicholasville
Boone’s Store, Louisville
Catalina Motel, Lexington
Central Kentucky Recovery, Cynthiana
Diva’s Gentlemen’s Club, Lexington
Ethan Health, Richmond
Louisville Health and Healing, Louisville
Miracle Bubbles Laundromat, Lexington
New Leaf Clinic, Louisville
Pocket Change by Change Today, Change Tomorrow
Recovery Café, Lexington
Roots 101: African American Museum, Louisville
